Life flies by in the blink of an eye
It's 9 o'clock on a Saturday morning, I am sitting in my living room and there is complete silence because everyone else is sleeping (or in my poor hubby's case, working a Saturday). Seven years have passed since I last made a blog entry and looking back at the misadventures of my little dude and monkey girl that I have shared I am reflecting on what amazing, not so little, people they are turning out to be and how quickly time passes. I clearly remember the 89 year old woman that I spoke to on that bus ride I wrote about seven years ago like it was yesterday and cannot quite believe that my monkey is now 10 years old and in grade four and that my little dude is 13, in junior high and almost as tall as me!
And while that bus ride seems like yesterday, I also know that we have done a lot of living in the past seven years. We have made some amazing friends, watched hundreds of hockey games, track meets and soccer tournaments, both my hubby and I have changed jobs and the make up of our inner circle has changed shape in ways that we never expected ... a wild ride to say the least.
The things I am most proud of at this point are my 16 year marriage, which I have learned to be require equal parts of love, acceptance and endurance, my amazing children (who also require the marriage-making qualities)and the incredible group of friends and family that we are so fortunate to have surrounded ourselves with.
We have lived what seems like another lifetime of funny anecdotes and been through some times that have tested us in ways, that thankfully, have made us stronger and so it seems the perfect time to pick back up with the blog and start sharing those moments again ... so stay tuned because this "super mom" is on the cusp of dealing with adolescence, the insanity of quadrant hockey try-outs, the growing reality that Mean Girls may be more than just a movie in addition to the continued balancing of family, fun and career.
